The polished and playful Japanese restaurant is located in Laysen Valley.

Riyadh, we’ve got some tasty news. The Japanese restaurant, White Robata, has opened in Laysen Valley. The concept describes itself as offering a progressive robata experience, and here’s what to expect.

White Robata can already be found in Kuwait, and has now expanded to Saudi Arabia. White Robata in Riyadh boasts an open kitchen so that you can watch the chefs at work. Great for groups, the dishes are superb for sharing. The menu is divided between graze, raw, robata, kushiyaki and buns. Each dish is carefully curated and presented artistically.

The kushiyaki includes Chicken Yakitori, Tiger Shrimp Hatayaki and Wagyu Kushiyaki. Bun dishes include a Wagyu Burger with camembert, dashi onions and mizuna; Smoked Miso Brisket with tobanjan barbecue and pickle; SF Chicken Souvlaki with aji verde.

White Robata boasts a polished yet playful design. The interior includes grey seats, long banquettes, wooden tables and dim lighting. Counter seats are available, which overlook the chefs hard at work and grills sizzling away. Look out for fun anime figures, which wouldn’t look out of place in Transformers. Plus, there are potted plants, which add a touch of colour.

White Robata is in good company in Laysen Valley. It joins French restaurant Bagatelle, Japanese favourite Sumosan and twisted Lebanese eatery MLLE in a location that combines Najd architecture with a splash of modern pizzazz.
